SMS FUNCTIONALITY

SMS-ALL.png

Whitelisting
Up to three cell phone numbers can be supported by the SMS feature set. Each number can independently perform queries and configure alert settings.

The whitelisted number(s) are determined by the end-user/customer. Responses to queries or alerts will be sent only to whitelisted numbers. Requests or commands from  numbers that are not whitelisted will be ignored by the tracker.

Location Query
To query GPS location info, send any SMS e.g. ‘P’ to your tracker’s mobile number.

The tracker would respond with the geographic coordinate system (Latitude and Longitude) location as shown below.

The Latitude and Longitute takes the form;
Latitude DD MM.decimal-minute (N/S),
Longitude DDD MM.decimal-minute (W/E)

The latitude & longitude info can then be forwarded to someone if necessary, or can be copied and pasted into a search engine on your browser to show the location on a map as shown below.

Motion Alert
Command: 'Motion alert'

Effect: Alerts user who configured the setting when sustained motion is detected.

After notifying, this setting is disabled for the user who was alerted.

Response:
(When configured)
Two SMS are sent by the tracker

- 'Alerting motion: OK' - Acknowledging the command

- A standard SMS similar to a query response with the current location, speed and direction information.

Response:
(When triggered)
One SMS is sent by the tracker

The message 'Alerting motion', followed by the current location, speed and direction information.

Speeding Alert
Command: 'Speed alerts'

Effect: Alerts user who configured the setting when movement exceeding 100km/h (54knots) is detected.

Once activated, this setting remains active unless disabled by the user (by configuring 'No alerts' or 'Motion alert') and will continue to notify as long as the speed is excessive.

This feature should be used with caution as continuous messages while enabled can impact the mobile account and violate our SMS fair use policy.

Response:
(When configured)
Two SMS are sent by the tracker

- 'Alerting speed: OK' - Acknowledging the command

- A standard SMS similar to a query response with the current location, speed and direction information (similar to the Motion alert being enabled above).

Response:
(When triggered)
One or more SMS messages sent by the tracker

The message 'Alerting speed', followed by the current location, speed and direction information will be sent as long as the vehicle is above the speeding threshold (100km/h or 54knots).

Disable Alerts
Command: 'No alerts'

Effect: Disables alerts (no motion or speeding alerts sent)

Response:
Two SMS are sent

- 'No alerts: OK' - Acknowledging the command.

- A standard SMS similar to a query response with the current location, speed and direction information.

Note:-
-All commands and queries only work for valid white-listed users for each target device.
- Responses and alerts are contingent on mobile account being in good order and that the 'Fair use policy' has not been violated.
- Responses and alerts are contingent on network availability.
- Notification settings/ alerts are separately configured for each user.
- Motion alerts and speed alerts are mutually exclusive. Enabling one disables the other.
- Motion and speeding alerts require a GPS lock
- To add or remove numbers/users from the white-list please contact us (customer verification would be required)

FAIR USE POLICY
The SMS query & alert features are intended to be used only as a backup to the WebApp and should not be used as the primary method of location queries.

Customers still interested in using SMS as the primary method for queries are asked to limit the frequency of these checks or would require an adjustment to their subscription fee until further notice.
    Until further notice, excessive use
or instances of alerts will similarly violate the fair use policy.
    Wh
at qualifies as a violation of the Fair use policy is solely our discretion.
